TENSION GAUGES – OPTIKRIK

FOR OPTIBELT V-BELTS AND RIBBED BELTS
The gauges reliably check whether the V-belt, power band or V-ribbed belt is correctly pretension.
This simplified method for static tension measuring should be used for installation and maintenance tensioning of the belt when the important technical data is unavailable and the optimum tension cannot be calculated. This method requires only knowledge of the small pulley diameter and the belt section and construction. The gauges may also be used to set tensions when the optimum tension has been calculated from known technical data.

SPECIAL ADVANTAGES:
This simplified pre-tensioning method is designed to make it easier for the fitter to maintain belt drives when the most important technical data is not known and the optimum pretension is not available.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

  • Select the pretension gauge according to the Profi l and version used. Refer to the procedure instructions below (simplified preload table).
  • The figure above (A, B or C) shows three ways to operate the gauge so that pressure is applied to the pressure surface only.
  • Place the gauge on one of the drive belts in the center of the belt spine. Make sure that the gauge is in contact with only one belt and that the indicator arm is fully pressed into the scale surface. The gauge should be aligned parallel to the belt edges.
  • Using only one finger, press slowly and firmly on the pressure surface as shown in the figure above (A, B or C). When you hear or feel a distinct click, please adjust the pressure immediately and lift the gauge carefully so as not to adjust the measured position of the indicator arm.
  • Read the gauge to judge the preload as follows and as shown in the figure above.
  • Turn the gauge sideways to read the exact intersection of the upper edge of the indicator arm with the scale surface.
  • Note this point or mark it with your thumbnail and rotate the meter to read the scale.
  • Compare the pretension reading with the simplified pretension table or the calculated pretension. Decrease or increase the belt tension according to the measurement result, if necessary.
